Monday 13 July 2009

Breakfast (finish 9.20am) - yogurt and seed mixture with stevia. Too full to finish this, ate about half.

Lunch (finish 2.30pm) - two hardboiled eggs with a green salad of cos, cucumber and celery, topped with olive oil and apple cider vinegar dressing.

Dinner (finish 7.45pm) - the rest of this morning's yogurt mixture and an apple.

Stuffed today. Is my stomach getting smaller because of the big breaks between meals or something? Otherwise I just don't understand it. I'm really choking down the portions I can manage.

Sunday 12 July 2009

Breakfast (finish 12.25pm) - 200g natural yogurt, one pear, stevia and seed mixture.

Next meal (finish 6.10pm) - 140g cooked chicken, an apple, a green salad with olive oil and apple cider vinegar dressing.

Not hungry at all today (can you tell?), very short of my food allocations. I'm trying to remind myself it's ok though - it's more important to listen to your body and not eat when it doesn't want to, than force it.

With the square meals each day and no snacking, I'm finding it hard to fit all the food from one meal in, in one sitting!

Saturday 11 July 2009

Breakfast (finish 2pm) - rye wrap with tuna, boiled broccoli (left overs from yesterday), cos and tomato. Oh and lots of herbs. Yum! And a black cup of tea with stevia.

Next meal (finish 7.30pm) - 2 hardboiled eggs, a bunch of asaparagus, an apple and the day's seed mix.

This diet has a "no mixing of proteins" rule that I find really hard to abide by. I'm doing it, but it takes all the fun out of food - who would have thought!

Thanks Harry! It's too soon to see any results or anything like that on this new plan - it's only Day 2 - but it's going ok. I absolutely suck at all the measuring and preparation but I'm making sure just because I'm not perfect, doesn't mean the towel gets thrown in. I just have to make the best of what I can and have done. :)

Friday 10 July 2009

Breakfast (finished 10.20am) - 200g natural yogurt, 1 diced kiwi fruit, most of today's seed mixture and stevia.

Lunch (finished 4.20pm) - 2 hard boiled eggs with salad of cos, cucumber and celery with the rest of the seed mixture, 1tbsp olive oil and 3tsp apple cider vinegar and some boiled broccoli. One cup of black stevia-sweetened tea.

Dinner - an apple. Didn't feel like anything else - after a fortnight of short nights I just want to rug up on a cold Friday night for some sleep.

Tuesday 7 July 2009

Hi again!

Well a promise is a promise (I made one, right?)! So here I am reporting that I've now got my Sureslim meal plan. Yay! I've been spending this whole time getting my head into gear - instead of focussing on any goal, I'm just going to follow one day at a time and that's it (because being thin makes me quite uncomfortable - but that's something I have to deal with when I get there, instead of worrying about it from afar).

So, I plugged a day into a food counter and came up with the following stats:

Food Total: Cals kJ Fat Prot. Carb. Sugar
Day Total: 1517 6340 100.1g 78.4g 86.2g 42.4g

Over 38g of that carb count comes from two apples. They insist you at least have one apple per day, and another piece of fruit of my choosing.

Not too bad, actually. Little higher here, little lower there than my ideal, but overall I'm very happy. Rather than rushing into things and just crashing, I'm going to read through and plan tonight, do some shopping and cooking tomorrow, and start on Thursday. :)

Wish me luck!

I'm getting married!

I'm getting married! Wooo! How exciting! And THIS from a person that was sure I would NEVER get married in my life time hahaha

So, I signed up to Sureslim on Sat (just hours before I got engaged which was a complete surprise) and will sit my blood test tomorrow morning. Couldn't do it sooner bc you need to be alcohol-free for 72hrs beforehand and I had celebratory drinks on Sun hehe

Oh and for anyone that asks, though I haven't seen the plan yet, I'm lead to believe it's about giving you a food plan with portions and meals mapped out which you cook yourself and weigh in one on one once a week. So no pills, shakes, frozen food..... though that would make it easier hehehe.

Think I can lose 35kgs in a year? That's how long I have 'til the big day!

Morning People And Night Owls Show Different Brain Function

ScienceDaily
June 24, 2009

Scientists at the University of Alberta have found that there are significant differences in the way our brains function depending on whether we're early risers or night owls.

Neuroscientists in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation looked at two groups of people: those who wake up early and feel most productive in the morning, and those who were identified as evening people, those who typically felt livelier at night. Study participants were initially grouped after completing a standardized questionnaire about their habits.

Using magnetic resonance imaging-guided brain stimulation, scientists tested muscle torque and the excitability of pathways through the spinal cord and brain. They found that morning people's brains were most excitable at 9 a.m. This slowly decreased through the day. It was the polar opposite for evening people, whose brains were most excitable at 9 p.m.

Other major findings:

* Evening people became physically stronger throughout the day, but the maximum amount of force morning people could produce remained the same.
* The excitability of reflex pathways that travel through the spinal cord increased over the day for both groups.
* These findings show that nervous-system functions are different and have implications for maximizing human performance.

Wednesday 13 May 2009

Hmmm I'm thinking I need to revamp my 'grooming' routine. I was told yesterday that I look "shite". OK, so it was put slightly differently but that word was definitely used and I was the topic of the conversation. And she spoke to my manager afterwards and soon I was presented with a new uniform order form to complete (with big smiles) and advice that I should wash my clothes with the lights, etc. (for anyone that wants to know, I don't have enough clothes to divide into light and dark loads - that a family thing, not a single person thing. I do use stain remover and soak whites though)

Been stewing over it since yesterday because I simply couldn't make up my mind what I thought of hearing that. Should I pretend I didn't hear it, should I think the message-bearer is just superficial and judgemental or should I look at my appearance and see what I think.

So far I've decided a bit of the last two - The woman that said it, who's often really nice but can be a bit of a .... ummm... I don't know. You know those steriotypical ppl? Kinda like Keeping Up Appearances that drive a 4wd with 7 seats to carry three kids plus friends to all sorts of extra curricular events. Has her kitchen redone in the latest styles, uses the words "hideous" and "devine"... you know what I mean?

OK so I'm babbling. I've decided she's too superficial for me and that maybe I should do something about my appearance. I don't know what that is though. I keep my clothes clean and I have showers. I do my hair (well, I either brush it or put it in a pony tail - I only have two hair styles). I rarely wear any makeup... sometimes some lip gloss if I'm in the mood. I don't wear jewellery. I keep my eyebrows and nails manicured and I keep my hair dye up so I don't have roots (for too long). Isn't that enough? I guess I'm lazy. I go through phases of remembering to use moisturiser but then I go through phases of not using it.

I don't know. What should I do?

Update to previous blog entries:
The better eating only lasted to Wednesday. I didn't plan properly, got hungry without having food prepared and that was the end of that. I don't know how to plan :(

As for the exercise blitz, I hurt my back and as this is the third time this year, my trainer and I have realised this is going to be a permanent issue we need to be aware of. So I'm doing "rehab" on it at the moment, nothing strenuous.

Monday 27 April 2009

OK so I've been saying I'm "about to start" for the last week or so. And I'm still going to... until tomorrow. I'm cooking all the food right now for tomorrow. So here goes!

Tuesday 21 April 2009

So how amazing is this - remember on Tuesday 14 April I asked for opinions on Ideal Bodies Online? Well who knew that Sue Heintze has a blogspot AND found mine?

I must admit, I'm totally flattered.

Anyway, above the Feedback System outline, I posted "(I had asked how often you check in, etc) and ... well, IMO it's not very impressive. What do you think?".
Sue replied with:
Thanks Erica for mentioning us on your blog! It's unfortunate to read you aren't impressed by the feedback service we offer as it is something we have perfected over the 6 years we have been in business. As you can see from our gallery, the results are really impressive if you are committed to working hard. Perhaps herein lies the problem!! We also have a mentor program if someone feels they need to be in contact all the time but we rarely find that is the case. I wish you well on your body blitz! Work hard and the results will be worth it.

OK, so now I feel like I'm eating humble pie. hehehe

I wrote her an email to which I replied:

Me: "In all honesty, I'd really like something face to face over something online - it's just that face to face can be expensive."

(Caps due to the email format - she wasn't yelling at me ;))
Sue: "THAT'S FINE, WHATEVER SUITS, JUST THAT YOU ENQUIRED ABOUT AN ONLINE FACILITY - THAT'S WHAT WE DO :)"

So, yeah, true.

We also said:

Me: "the results are truly impressive and, you know, I really don't know how your system does it. How can only checking in once every now and then by text really give people the spur on they need to work so hard? I just assume they must have inner determination, which at the moment, I don't have too much of."

Sue: "FEEDBACK COACHES ARE THERE TO KEEP YOU ON TRACK AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE PROGRESSING IN YOUR PROGRAM AND FOLLOWING IT PROPERLY. YOU HAVE OVER LOOKED ONE VERY IMPORTANT ASPECT, AND THAT IS OUR CLIENT FORUM. THERE IS SO MUCH SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE THERE, WHENEVER YOU NEED IT, FAR MORE THAN YOU WOULD EVER GET FROM A PT OR A WEIGHT LOSS COUNSELLOR 1 X WEEK."

So how's that? :D

I have to say I still don't know how they get the results they do with their system (and I've spoken to other "real" people on other forums that also swear by it) but maybe I'll never know. Or maybe when I don't have to lose so much weight I'll take it up to do the toning. Because right now I probably need to lose about 35kgs.

Oh, my exciting news so far .... I DID BOXERCISE YESTERDAY AND THEN PILATES STRAIGHT AFTER! ... I survived!!!!

I'm barely even sore, too. But, I did do tons of stretching afterwards. My pt was unwell yesterday so I'll be setting up the action plan tomorrow instead, right before I go see Dylan Moran. Excited!
